RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT STAFF

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this position is responsible for integrating individuals with disabilities into the community to participate in work, recreational activities, leisure, employment, and volunteer activities by performing the following duties.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Provides training, supports needs, and directs care to help achieve goals based on the individual’s preferences and abilities.*

  2. Demonstrates a person-centered practice and supports each person's choice in activities, locations, and people with whom that person interacts with on a daily basis.*

  3. Observes individual’s behaviors and changes in physical condition.*

  4. Utilizes prescribed strategies to assist the individual while documenting and reporting incidences accordingly.*

  5. Assists and encourages individuals, without being directed, to engage in various activities in the home and community that are of interest as well as meaningful to the individual.*

  6. Passes medications as needed in compliance with ODP approved Medication Administration Training.*

  7. Ensures the site is in compliance with the 6100 Regulations at all times.*

  8.  Assists the client with money management as outlined in the ISP and documents transactions on appropriate forms.*

  9. Responsible for understanding and implementing/following current ISPs of each person being supported and develops strategies that lead to the achievement of individual’s personal outcomes.*

  10. Provides supports in compliance with the ISP to include diet, supervision levels, medical needs, etc.*

  11. Participates in individual planning processes to define a community building focus for people supported while ensuring the plan is meaningful and beneficial to the person.*

  12. Provides assistance to individuals with intellectual disabilities in all areas of daily living so that these individuals can live and work in their community to foster maximum independence.

  13. Provides services, including but not limited to habilitation, health needs, personal care and hygiene, employment, transportation, recreation, housekeeping, as well as other home management related supports.*

  14. Ensures at all times that the health and safety of each person supported is maintained.*

  15.  Applies emergency procedures as necessary.*

  16. Responsible for immediately reporting any incident in accordance with regulatory and licensing requirements.*

  17. Provides transportation to different community activities/locations based upon the person's needs and interests in a safe manner.*

  18.  Participates in training, staff meetings, and supervision meetings as scheduled.*

  19.  Completes and maintains required records and documentation such as progress notes, attendance, and work logs.*

  20.  Adheres to HIPAA guidelines.*

  21.  Follows Allegiant Human Services policies and procedures.*

 

Qualifications:

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and less than one year related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Valid driver's license and insurance

  • Physical Exam

  • TB Test
